PEX-AL-PEX Multilayer Pipe

A five-layer PEX/Al/PEX composite: a seamless aluminium core bonded between inner and outer PEX with adhesive. The aluminium layer blocks oxygen almost completely, removes almost all linear expansion, protects the polymer from UV, and lets the coil hold its shape once bent — the properties importers of underfloor-heating and potable-water systems ask for. We ship lap-welded and butt(laser)-welded grades from 16×2.0 to 32×3.0, with pre-insulated variants for manifolds, snow-melt and exposed runs.

Installation

How to install PEX-AL-PEX pipe

  1. Cut to length

    Cut the pipe squarely with a rotary pipe cutter and deburr the inner and outer wall — do not use an abrasive blade.

  2. Slide on the fitting

    Slip the crimp sleeve and compression nut onto the pipe, then expand the pipe end onto a calibrating mandrel to round it again.

  3. Bend by hand

    Bend cold by hand or with a spring/bender to the loop radius; the aluminium layer lets the pipe hold its shape and resist rebound.

  4. Make the joint

    Seat the fitting and tighten the compression nut by hand plus a quarter turn, or crimp the press sleeve with the correct tool profile to the marked depth.

  5. Pressure-test before covering

    Pressure-test each loop before embedding or screeding, then connect to the manifold and balance the circuits.

Why does the aluminium layer matter?
The aluminium core gives an almost complete oxygen barrier (protecting steel boilers, manifolds and fittings from corrosion), eliminates linear expansion so the pipe keeps its shape, blocks UV, and adds burst strength. That is what separates PEX-AL-PEX from plain PE-RT or PEX in heating circuits.
Lap-welded vs butt-welded (laser)?
Butt-welded (laser) aluminium forms a full-strength welded seam, giving higher burst pressure and better long-term fatigue resistance; lap-welded overlaps the seam and is more economical for standard duty. We offer both across 16–32 mm.
Working pressure and temperature?
16×2.0 and 20×2.0 are rated PN16 (≈16 bar max working pressure); 25×2.5, 26×3.0 and 32×3.0 are PN20. All grades operate from −40 °C up to +95 °C intermittent, so they cover central heating, hot and cold potable water.
